Volunteer Opportunities
Updated September 15, 2023
For the 2023-2024 school year we plan to have three main working subcommittees: School Safety Plan, Data and Engagement, and Public Meeting.
School Safety Plan: This is the group that rewrites the 80 page school safety plan. It’s the place to work if you really want to get into details about the procedures and protocols. (It’s helpful to have some experience in public safety issues, but it’s not really necessary, if you want to get into learning mode.)
Data and Engagement: This is the committee to work on if you want to research and get the facts about safety at BHS and needs of the school community. It involves interviews and other research. We will produce a public report on safety issues that includes the perspective of students, families, teachers, staff, school safety officers, and outside stakeholders, such as BPD and BFD.
Public Meeting: This will be a PUBLIC meeting where the draft safety plan is presented and feedback is solicited. If you have experience with events and want to help create a respectful, meaningful opportunity for the whole BHS community to get involved, it would be great to have you help.
If you want to participate, please get in touch with one of the committee officers listed above. We will formally create our subcommittees at our meeting next month, and the subcommittee chairs will be in touch to get you involved.
